Nigeria has summoned the South African ambassador to protest over xenophobic attacks on fellow Africans and Nigerians. At least 7 people have been killed in violence against black foreigners in South Africa after controversial comments by the Zulu king against immigrants.
“The essence of the summon was to register Nigeria’s protest over the on-going xenophobic attacks against fellow Africans in South Africa,” the Nigerian Foreign ministry said, adding that the meeting had happened on Monday.
Small counter-protests outside embassies and business’s have taken place across the country.
“I would leave that place – I don’t want to die!” says one man.
